Ieri sono andata a incontrare una coppia di amici stranieri in vacanza sul Lago di Garda e ho avuto l'inattesa sorpresa di una mamma svasso con i piccoli!! Non avevo la lente giusta (troppo corta), non c'era la luce giusta (il sole era alto) e i natanti da turismo muovevano parecchio l'acqua ma sono troppo dolci per non mostrarli!! Buona settimana!!

I shot these wonderful wild and young lions in a strength rehersal from a very short distance in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.

Ho appena ricevuto la consueta newletter di Africa Geographic e condivido questo articolo perchè è esattamente quello che io penso del tragico incidente avvenuto recentemente in un "lion park" (che è un ambiente completamente diverso da quello di un safari)!!

Ho scattato questa foto di giovani leoni in una prova di forza, da molto vicino, nel Parco del Serengeti in Tanzania.

Dopo una settimana deludente con la camera trap, ho finalmente trovato l'uscita della tana che la famigliola di tassi (che avevo scoperto una decina di giorni fa) sta usando ora!! Ed i due cuccioli sabato si sono messi in posa per la ripresa!!

Ecco i primi tentativi di Fight Club (chi non conosce il famoso film?)! La prossima volta sarò un cineasta migliore ma a parte la qualità del video, il micetto "biondo" non è quasi affascinante come Bread Pitt? LOL!!

Not only in UK but also here in Italy it was argued if grey squirrels should be culled to protect red ones so I'm particularly happy that here there is a red squirrel which didn't ask for any culling and which I hadn't seen in my area since a very long time! /

Quando ho avuto la bella sorpresa del tasso l'altro giorno, anche uno scoiattolo rosso aveva fatto capolino ma poi era sparito dopo un paio di giorni e visto che anche un gatto era passato in zona, ero preoccupata che lo scoiattolo rosso fosse diventato una sua preda. Invece ieri il piccoletto rosso è stato ripreso dalla fototrappola, anche se è passato troppo lontano quindi ho pensato di postare il video della scorsa settimana.

Non solo nel Regno Unito ma anche qui in Italia si è discusso se sarebbe giusto abbattere gli scoiattoli grigi per proteggere quelli rossi quindi sono particoarmente felice che qui ci sia uno scoiattolo rosso che non ha richiesto nessun abbattimento e che io non avevo visto in zona da moltissimo tempo.

Oggi dei cuccioli diversi, piccoli di tasso!! Lo scorso weekend in una passeggiata esplorativa per controllare alcuni buchi che so essere stati tane, ho avuto una meravigliosa sorpresa: due cuccioli di tasso stavano prendendo il sole, il che è decisamente incoslito per questi animali notturni e sono riuscita solamente a scattare una veloce ed insoddisfacente foto prima che risparissero nel buco. Così ho piazzato la fototrappola e nei giorni successivi sono andata a controllare facendo attenzione a non spaventare nè stressare mamma o cuccioli e ieri ho trovato questo!!

I gattini stanno aprendo gli occhi e li avranno blu fino a ca. due mesi!!

After about six hours of labour there are four new kittens and I also had to help with the last one. I had never done before but the mom was too tired and the small one seemed not to succeed in coming out in spite of three attempts. So very, very gently I helped to pull the kitten out and the four plus the mom are safe and sound! /

Dopo circa sei ore di travaglio i cuccioli sono quattro ed ho anche dovuto aiutare con l'ultimo. Non lo avevo mai fatto prima ma la mamma era troppo stanca ed il piccolo sembrava non riuscire ad uscire nonostante tre tentativi. Così molto, molto gentilmente ho dato una mano a tirarlo fuori ed i quattro cuccioli più la mamma sono sani e salvi!

Last September my scouting camera gave me this pic and I had already caught another badger, always with my cheap remote camera, where I had found its outhouse.

A couple of times I have seen a badger quickly hiding in the bush while coming back home by driving a route where I hoped to spot one... but I haven't succeed in taking a pic with my real camera yet, which could be a good resolution for the New Year!!

I had hoped in the weather forecast which said it was the first morning of the new year without clouds and I had planned to go and take some pics of a fallow deers colony with three white members. But not only there was fog, unfortunately all the deers were clinging to the hill, too far from me, so my first pic of 2014 has been to these guys with hair standing on end!

And it was a thrilling pic for me as I didn't expect such a meeting and normally wild boars aren't liked by people in the countryside where I live so it's not so easy to spot them with enough light.

The background is not one of my best liked but these cute buddies are normally very alert and very difficult to approach so I couldn't belive this morning I could go so near!

I was at Yala National Park in Sri Lanka and it was the lunch break by the river where you are allowed to get out of the car. Almost all other people had already started their afternoon safaris and hubby and I had stayed longer when all of a sudden the curious and also intrusive monkeys which live there started to use an hanging branch to dive into the water and started to play.

I pointed my camera, strived with the difference between the harsh light of the early afternoon and the shadow of the side branch of the river where these macaques where having fun, it was a matter of a second.

swimming macaquesAt Yala National Park in Sri Lanka near a river, these macaque monkeys, which I had seen also in the previous days to fool around, to deflea or to eat suddenly started to jump into this sidestream and to play with water. In a moment it was over and the monkeys were back to the bush.
